Actors That You Will Be Surprised to Learn Aren’t American: My View on the Best Accents In American Television

So I am back after a longer hiatus than I apprehended and I am here to present to you some of the best American accents that I have come across while watching American Television. I find accents fascinating and I love discovering an actor I’ve grown to know is actually British or Australian or whatever. So today I thought I would write about those actors who I feel have the most convincing American accents in Television. With most of these actors I was genuinely surprised they weren’t actually American.

I will first present to you my Runners Up and then my top 3.

(Note: I have decided to leave out Hugh Laurie from House as most people know he is British.)

I’m still here.

Just a little update to let everyone know that I am still here! I have had a very busy week but I hope to get another blog post written in the next couple of days.

My Modest Games Collection.

So, I was planning on doing this post on Wednesday but then I realised my SD card port on my laptop was broken. Since then I have been busy with work. So this is me just getting round to buying an SD card reader and getting the photos on my comp. So I apologise for the 4 day hiatus.

So today is a bit of a personal post I suppose.  I thought I would make a post just showing you my games collection.  Over the next few months I expect to see it expand a bit, especially the retro games. So I will keep this blog  updated with any extra additions 🙂 Anyway, on to the collection.

So the most boring first. My PS3 Collection. I actually only got my ps3 about a year and a half ago, so I think I’ve built up a fair amount since then 🙂 I also had to trade-in a few of my games  last year due to being a skint student 😦

What’s Not Pictured: I couldn’t be bothered unplugging my PS3 for the picture. Everything else is there, expect my second copy of borderlands 1….

Latest Addition: Bioshock Infinite. Which is excellent by the way! I have also bought Tomb Raider trilogy, Metal Gear Solid 4, Resistence 3 and Fallout: New Vegas since taking this picture.

What’s Next: I want to buy Tomb Raider once it is down in price. The next new release I’m going to buy is The Last of Us!

So my Wii. I don’t have many games for this one as the main reason I kept it was for Legend of Zelda, Super Smash Bros. and my gamecube games.

What’s not pictured:  Wii Sports

Latest Addition: It’s been a while since I’ve bought anything for this but I think my latest addition was Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. Which I still need to complete…

What’s Next: I don’t expect to be buying many games for this in the future but I will be keeping my eye out for Resident Evil 4 for the gamecube.

PS2 and PS1

The PS2 holds a special place in my heart. My brothers and I used to have a lot of games for it but over the years they went missing or  broken or sold. The ones you see outside the cases are my eldest brothers, he was never careful with his games.

What’s Not Pictured: My Harry Potter game which I forgot to put in the photo :/ It’s a guilty pleasure.

Latest Addition: Max Payne which I bought for £1 recently. I never played it as a kid so I want to give it a shot now.

What’s Next: My original silent hill is missing so I will be on the look out for that, but I might just get it on the PSN store….

Retro Nintendo

So this is the collection I would most like to expand. I just got my N64 for Christmas from my boyfriend so I haven’t really bought any more games for it yet. I also have a SNES  but it’s not pictured here as it’s in storage somewhere. As for my game boy collection, I have just got a new pikachu game boy and a Pokemon blue 😀 Oh and Lylat wars.

What’s not pictured: SNES and some games.

Latest Addition: My pikachu game boy and pokemon blue which I got yesterday.

What’s Next: There are a lot of N64 games I want. LoZ, Worms, Mario Kart, Perfect Dark… the list could go on and on.

Console wise this is my latest addition. I just got this last month and so far I’ve only bought this one game haha!

What’s Next: I’m not really sure but I need to get a memory pack so I suppose that’s next.

My Games Collection Together.

So that’s my games collection. If my brother hadn’t gotten rid of most of what we had then I would have more! But I guess I’ve got to build it back up myself.

So what’s your games collection like? Do you like Retro Gaming or are you more of  a modern gamer?

BioShock: Infinte. A Round-Up of My First Impressions.

bioshock infinite cover

Earlier this morning I happily went along and got my copy of Bioshock: Infinite for my PS3. I went to the store and got my snacks (fruit, cheetos and diet coke) and changed into comfy clothing in order to dedicate my day off to this game. After 3 hours of play and almost  a full bag of cheetos, I have decided to take a break and put my first thoughts onto this blog!

Now, I think it’s important to mention that I have only played BioShock 1 and I did not complete it. I loved the story, I loved atmosphere and I loved the premise. However, I could not get a grip on the controls and they ruined the game for me. So I gave up. Instead I have  waited patiently for BioShock Infinite in the vain hope that they had simplified the controls a little and allowed for some more intuitive play. And I was not disappointed. So  let’s get on with the review.

As I haven’t played the full game, I just want to cover a few points in order to give you a general idea. I will be back in future with a full proper review for you. As usual, I’m going to break it down so you can take what you will.

Telltale’s The Walking Dead: a Quick Overview on a True Triumph of a Game.

Hope everyone had a good weekend. While I have been sitting here patiently waiting for the release of Bioshock: Infinite, I decided to finally play Telltale’s Walking Dead game. I bought the full season back around Christmas time but it has sitting on my PS3 hard drive ever since. I am glad I made the time for it because it is a great unique game.

NB: This isn’t going to be a lengthy in depth review. Just a quick one to tell you all the good things about it!   Read more…

A Survivor is Born. Tomb Raider: Why You Must Play It. An In-Depth Discussion.

A couple days ago I wrote a post detailing my first impressions of Tomb Raider.  I wrote about how I had enjoyed the game so far but that I had found it a bit too similar to Uncharted. I also moaned about the lack of tombs and puzzles as well as Lara’s characterisation. I thought it was a good game but I believed it was somewhat lacking. Well, I can tell you my opinions have totally changed. This game is awesome, and you have to play it. Here’s why: Read more…

Retro Gaming: My Favourite Childhood PC Games.

I suppose I had somewhat of an unusual childhood when it comes to gaming. Yes I played all the usual games a 90s kid would have; MarioKart, Legend of Zelda, Pokemon, Crash Bandicoot etc. but I also played a lot of PC games.

I love the old consoles and gameboys, in fact I still have a SNES, dreamcast and N64, but there will always be a special place in my heart for the old school PC Games. So in honour of them, I am counting down my favourites right here on my blog. You can also expect to see more Retro Gaming posts on the consoles too at some point. Read more…
